Tannehill Returns to Practice
Ryan Tannehill returned to limited practice this week just in time for the playoffs. While he will not play in the Wild Card round against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, it could open the door for him to return for the divisional round of the playoffs if the Dolphins can take care of the Steelers once again. Miami began their amazing 9-1 run against these very Steelers and the team is very confident they will be moving on with Matt Moore under Center.
Tickets for the game are still selling at a brisk pace and the home field Steelers have a great advantage in the weather. It has been balmy in Florida all week while Pittsburgh is freezing. The Dolphins have gone so far as to freeze footballs for Kicker Andrew Franks.
“They definitely become hard in the colder weather,” Special Teams Coordinator Darren Rizzi said. “But there’s only so much you can do in this kind of weather to practice. We actually put balls in the freezer, believe it or not. But you bring them out and five minutes later they’ve thawed out.”
The game kicks off at Sunday at Noon. Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so grab yours today!
Roster cuts loom after final preseason game
The Miami Dolphins will host the Tennessee Titans tonight in the final preseason game for both teams tonight in the newly renamed Hard Rock Stadium but don’t expect to see too much of starters who have won their jobs over. One of the positions that are still being scrutinized is the tight end position. Expect to see a lot more possessions to the starting tight ends, Jordan Cameron and Dion Sims who have both dropped their share of passes in the preseason, managing only six catches for 34 yards.
“I’m starting to get a good feel for what he (Cameron) likes,” head coach Adam Gase said Tuesday. “I’ve had a lot of conversations with him over the last couple of weeks as far as, ‘What do we need to do different that I can get you a little bit in a rhythm?’ I feel like we’re kind of starting to hit some of those things.”
“I think they’ll be a little more impactful than what they’ve been,” Gase added.
The team must get down to the NFL mandatory 53 players by 4 PM Saturday afternoon so this final game will mean a lot to some of those still on the bubble. Look for the third TE slot to garner attention with MarQueis Gray, Dominique Jones and Thomas Durate all fighting for the spot. Also look for the final receiver slots to be battled over by Leonte Caroo and Jakeem Grant as well as the backup safety position. Expect to see rookie RB Kenyon Drake to see minutes in his first preseason game.

The Miami Dolphins will host the Atlanta Falcons tonight on a nationally televised game and for Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph it is really very simple, “do your job!”
“We’ve got a lot more work to do,” Ndamukong Suh acknowledged this week. “I think at the end of the day, it’s about going out there and executing [and] putting yourself in the right position so you can make the right tackles. We weren’t always in the right position to make the proper tackles.”
with cuts looming, Head Coach Adam Gase has to get his team down to 75 this weekend.
“Teams are doing the same thing that we do. As soon as that waiver wire comes out, that personnel department, they don’t go home. They sit there and grind and go through their information . They start watching tape on guys and start looking at where we feel we might be light in a certain position. There’s a lot of work that goes into it, and you have to be somewhat strategic as far as who you possibly let go in this first round. You’re hoping you make the right decision on guys and then at the same time you’re hoping those guys get a chance to get somewhere else. It’s a tough deal because when you start developing relationships with these guys, cutting these guys is not easy.
After the Cowboys ran up 300 plus yards in the first half last weekend, Coach Gase will have a lot to evaluate as will Coach Vance.
